Since winter is approaching and I am getting paler by the minute, I have been desperate to find a tanning solution that is cheap and effective. After receiving my first spray tan weeks ago, I was bright orange and decided that I might need to find a different way to get my summer glow back. When L’Oreal tanning wipes came in the Her Campus Survival Kit, I jumped on the chance to try them out! I went through the process of using them for the first time and here’s what happened:
- I showered and dried my legs as the instructions said. I wiped down my legs from my feet to my upper thigh and went to bed.
- Completely forgetting that I used the wipes I put on a pair of leggings and only when I noticed my bright orange ankles did I recall the wipes. Panicking I quickly checked the rest of my legs. I found they were just slightly more tan than their usual color, leaving my ankles as the only orange body part. My skin was slightly streaky, but it wasn’t very noticeable.
- I showered that night and saw that most of my tan had washed off, so using a new wipe and being careful around my ankles, I rubbed my legs down once again to see if I would wake up with sun-kissed legs.
- Sure enough when I woke up my ankles were once again slightly streaky and orange, but the rest of my legs looked nicely tanned.
Overall, I would recommend this product, but there are certain precautions to take. It is essential to be careful around your ankles, don’t scrub your legs too harshly because the product will fade very fast then, and it does smell a little odd so wear your favorite perfume the day after you use the wipes. Personally, I am still too hesitant to use it on my face, but if you’re brave enough, go for it. Since it is fairly cheap and available, I encourage you to give it a try!
