Have you ever looked at your parents’ high school yearbook and laughed at their pictures, either for their “big” hair or their style of clothing, and asked them, “Is that really you?!” Their responses are usually, “Hey! My afro hair was cool.” Well, at least that was the response from my mom. You can say that our generation is definitely “different” compared to our parents, heck, even our grandparents – we don’t even want to go there.
Do you remember the way you dressed in elementary school or middle school? Or the artists that were in the “top ten” list that you would listen to on your portable CD player or, if you were lucky, on your iPod Shuffle? If you never brought your CD player with you so you could listen to Britney Spears on repeat during your ride on the bus, then I guess I’m just too old for you, but it definitely was the “in” thing to do!
But did you realize that our generation’s style, which we said would never make a comeback, is actually back and in the “411” (as said by Regina George’s mom)? Here is a list of just some of our “styles” that have been brought back!
1. The Poncho
2. Chokers
3. Goth inspired slip dresses/tops
4. Platform flip-flops
5. Overalls
6. Bangs
7. High-waisted pants
8. Track pants
9. Bucket hats
10. Denim! Denim! And more denim!
I never thought these styles would make a comeback, but I’m glad they did! It makes me one happy “denim-loving” girl, but what I’d like to see is gauchos – let’s bring ’em back!
