In college, you interact with so many people and you get to build so many connections with all of these individuals. On a day to day basis, there are so many different exchanges of conversation that are happening, one of those being with our professors and TAs. Whether we are actually holding a conversation with them, or we are sitting in the lecture listening to them talk, there is still that interaction. As individuals, all over the professors that you have, naturally, have different personalities. While some may be easy going and understanding, others may be very uptight and careless of the outer factors that impact a student’s life. If we were to describe these professors as Greys Anatomy characters, it would go a little something like this…
Christina Yang- These professors are intelligent beyond our understanding. They’re the type of person that loves school and loves learning new things. They are generally very well rounded in many different subjects. But put their intellectually aside, and these individuals are not so interested in helping you improve as an individual, but instead, they are just interested in proving how smart they are. Although these professors may have valuable knowledge, they are a tough crowd to address when you are in need of academic help because they will expect you to be like them and retain all the information that has been provided to you.
Meredith Grey- Shows up. Gets what needs to be done, done. Leaves.
Meredith Grey is known for being insensitive and heartless. She has never been the type of person to build relationships with those around her. She prefers to keep her life strictly professional and remain private. She will hear you out but in the end, she is not very understanding. If you have a professor like Meredith, it’s best to try and get on their good side. After all, they’re not there to build those interpersonal conversations with their students, they’re just there to get the job done.
Derick Shepard- These professors are the best kind. They are overall, pretty well-rounded individuals. They’re helpful and resourceful when needed. They genuinely enjoy teaching and you can tell. They understand that at the end of the day we are all humans and that we are not just here to grow intellectually but as individuals as well. These professors also tend to be more lenient and understanding when there are complications that affect your ability to complete assignments.
Mark Sloan (McDreamy)- Not all of us are fortunate enough to get a McDreamy as our professor, but if you are, let me tell you, you are winning. It’s what every college girl dreams of. What’s better than an educated piece of eye candy? Ok, maybe pizza, but you get the point. These professors make for the best motivation to go to class. On the downside though, they are often a distraction.
Lexi Grey– TA’s are the Lexi Greys of college campuses. They know a lot and they are, for the most part, good at what they do. However, they often lack experience. Unlike college professors, TA’s need lots and lots of more years of experience. A lot of the time the TA’s will be more laid back when it comes to approaching them with questions. They are grad students so they understand your pain, and they, just like you, do not want, let alone have time to do more work than is required. At the same time, because they are grad students, they may not always be the most helpful when it comes to answering questions or providing the best resources to guide you with your assignments.
I may have just slightly ruined Greys for you and next time you watch it, you might just think about that one professor or that one TA. In the end, just like Greys Anatomy characters are there to save lives, professors and TA’s are there to enrich ours with knowledge.
