The Gallaghers are officially back and ready to bring on a new season.
The trailer for season 8 of âShamelessâ just came out and people are really excited about it. So far, the trailer has over 6.7 million views on both YouTube and Facebook.
For those who donât know what âShamelessâ is, donât worry, weâre here for you. The show revolves around a dysfunctional family known as the Gallaghers. The family consists of the oldest sibling, Fiona, Phillip (Lip), Ian, Debbie, Carl, and the youngest, Liam. Each season shows the struggles the family deals with and how they resolve them.
Iâm warning you now, there might be slight spoilers from past seasons, so if you were planning on starting the show, start now.
You have A LOT to catch up on, but I promise you it will definitely be worth it. I started this show about a year ago and Iâm finally all caught up and I canât get enough of it.
Since weâre getting into season 8, here is a recap of what happened last season:
Frank finally wakes up from his coma after being pushed off a bridge by his family members after ruining Fionaâs wedding. Monica, the mother, returns for the millionth time trying to make things right with her kids. Kev and Vee, the neighbors/friends of the Gallaghers, find out that Svetlana, who was a prostitute that came over to America from Russia, has secretly taken over their bar without them knowing. Fiona buys the local laundromat across the street from her restaurant she manages, which she ends up selling. Carl goes off to military school, Lip is struggling with his alcohol problems and wants to get treatment, and Debbie is dealing with the issues of being a single teen mom. By the last episode of the season, Monica passes away and the family tries to figure out how to deal with it.
Monica does leave something for the kids, drugs, and tons of it. Each of the bags are worth $10,000 each. Fiona is not happy with this, so she takes her fair share of drugs and places it next to Monica to be buried. According to Variety, the other siblings give their share to Carl so he can sell it.
In the trailer, we see Frank out meditating and mourning Monicaâs death, while Fiona is now the landlord of a new building, with residents that give her a hard time. The rest of the Gallaghers have problems of their own to take care of. Someone also clearly wants their drugs back in the trailer.
From the way season 7 ended, we shouldnât expect anything new from Frank because he never changes. Debbie disappointed me last season so hopefully she can make a comeback. Throughout the series, we see the Gallaghers having financial issues and struggling to pay rent, and this season seems like it will be no different. Finally, like every other season, the Gallagher siblings always have each otherâs backs.
