If you’re not a native of the city, you’ve probably gone online to find food recommendations for Boston and left with Mike’s Pastry and/or Boston Burger Company mapped on your phone. Although these two places and all the other restaurants listed on tourist sites should definitely be on your to-try list, Boston also has a wide variety of Asian foods that are often left out, so don’t forget to check out the ones right below. Their food will leave you with tasty memories of Boston and its thriving and rich Asian American community.
Chinatown Cafe → 262 Harrison Ave, Boston MA 02111
This is my favorite place in Chinatown to grab a quick bite! Each morning, they hang the juicy siu yuk in the front window which you smell right as you step inside.
Recommendation: Wonton noodle soup with roast duck
Shabu-Zen → 80 Brighton Ave, Allston, MA 02134
Shabu-Zen is a great place to have hot pot, even on a budget! Their beef special is only $16 so you and your wallet will leave feeling full and happy.
Kaju Tofu House → 57 JFK St, Cambridge, MA 02138
Kaju Tofu House has two locations in Harvard Square and Allston, but regardless of which one you go to, they serve some of the most delicious Korean cuisine in the greater Boston area!
Chutney’s → 36 JFK St, Cambridge, MA 02138
Right by Kaju Tofu House is Chutney’s tucked away in The Garage but don’t let its hidden location steer you away from trying their food out; their authentic Indian street food is worth scouring Harvard Square for.
New Dong Khanh → 81 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02111
Dong Khanh’s pho is some of the best in Chinatown, in addition to its fresh fruit smoothies and bubble tea.

163 Vietnamese Sandwich → 66 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02111
You’ve probably noticed by now that a lot of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown are located on Harrison Ave, and 163 is no exception. Stop by the sandwich shop for fresh and healthy bánh mì.
Rod Dee 2 → 94 Peterborough St, Boston, MA 02215
To be honest, I only just started going to Rod Dee after wandering around Fenway but it’s quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in the area, as well as the best place for iced Thai tea, in my opinion.
Recommendation: Mango fried rice
Yamato II → 545 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116
My go-to Yamato is Yamato II in Copley but both the Copley location and the Brighton location (that’s super close to BC) have a huge selection of sushi that you won’t be able to stop reordering.
Recommendation: Caterpillar maki
