Why Removing One Tree Hill from Netflix Was the Worst Decision of 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mich chapter.

Here’s why removing One Tree Hill from Netflix was the worst decision of 2017:

How are girls supposed to find their true soul mate without having Naley to set their expectations?

We all know those girls in relationships who settle for so much less than what they deserve. Sometimes it’s because they want a confidence booster or love the praise from their significant other. Other times it’s because they truly don’t know what it’s like to be with a guy who actually deserves them. ENTER: NALEY. Watching their love story throughout all nine seasons sets the ultimate goal for what every girl should look for. Sign me up for boys like Nathan Scott who are patient, loving, hard working, forgiving, and not to mention hot af.

We needed to learn that huge self-transformations are still possible nowadays by watching the wonderful Brooke Davis.

From a sloppy party girl (we have all been there) to a famous designer, Brooke Davis is the ultimate example of what self-transformation is all about. Yeah she had her issues, her god awful mother for one and absentee dad for another, but despite these adversities, she overcame them and made something out of herself. She wasn’t the smartest or most inclined to succeed, but she used her talents and passion to turn herself into someone successful: something we all should aspire to do.

Lucas and Karen’s relationship made me realize how I wanted to be as a parent.

Lucas is by far very dreamy. He was smart, well-behaved, caring, and athletic. Honestly what more could one want? But the best part about him was his relationship with his mom. They were exactly how I want to be with my future kids and now I know how: all I have to do is channel my inner Karen.

Honestly how can one live without the drama of One Tree Hill?

This show is the epitome of an emotional roll coaster: from Haley and Nathan’s wedding to crazy Nanny Carrie (honestly hid my eyes during that episode) to Nathan joining the Bobcats and achieving his dream to being kidnapped, I can’t imagine a better distraction from reality than all the twist and turns that is One Tree Hill.

So Netflix, thank you for ruining my year by removing one of the best TV shows of all time.

P.S. always remember: one day you’re seventeen and planning for someday, and then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today, and then someday is yesterday and this is your life. Thank you Nathan Scott for reminding me how to live in the damn moment.
