What has helped you adjust to life at Mount Holyoke so far?
I think that the CAs have done a wonderful job of making sure I’m settling in well. I live in MacGregor, which is the first year LLC, and so I have been making friends with a lot of students in the same transitional period as I am. I also think the orientation traditions, like Convocation and O101, were a great way for me to feel bonded as a community with all class years.
Â
What are you most nervous and most excited about when it comes to college?
I’m really excited about trying new things and having the opportunity to fail without irreversible consequences! I’m also excited to meet new people, both students and professors. I’m nervous about the possibility of overcommitting, something that seems to be very easy to do in such a busy and exciting place like Mount Holyoke.
Â
What are your goals for the next four years?
Before coming to college, my goal was to join everything and anything I was interested in. Now that I know how hard classes are, I think my new goal is to stay balanced. Of course, I still want to get involved in orgs and extracurriculars and take lots of classes, but I also want to have time for myself — working out in Kendall, walking around the lake, having dinner with friends.
Â
Outside of academics, what are your favorite ways to spend your time?
I really enjoy exercise! The Kendall athletics facilities are amazing, and I’ve tried some drop in classes as well. Of course, I’m also partial to staying in on a weekend night and watching a movie with friends.
Â
Which clubs have you joined or intend to join, and why?
I want to join everything! Right now, I’m involved with the novice rowing team, and I want to get involved in SGA because I’m passionate about the “behind the scenes” of all the amazing events and activities going on. I also want to check out Model UN and the college newspaper!
Â
What is your favorite color?
Purple! Though since coming here, I’m definitely leaning green…
Â
What did you do over the summer?
I picked up some extra front desk and childcare shifts at the exercise studio near me! I also hung out with friends and went out to breakfast far too often.
Â
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you want to go and why?
I’ve always wanted to go to South America to practice my Spanish, and I think that visiting the Galapagos Islands would be so amazing and beautiful!
Â
What are you most passionate about?
Anyone who has been around me when I’m checking the news knows that I’m a total politics junkie. I became really passionate about politics and government during Obama’s first presidential campaign, and I haven’t stopped since!
Â
What’s one random fact that most people don’t know about you?
My favorite word is quixotic because I really love the definition (romantic and idealistic, but impractical).
