If you’re like me, you may have worked a number of jobs or internships this summer and are now headed into yet another dizzyingly busy school year. In doing these things, I’ve had to streamline my makeup routine, finding something simple, easy, professional, and most importantly that made me feel put together and ready to tackle the day.
As a longtime lover of the glitteriest parts of Urban Decay’s Naked palettes, I soon resigned myself to trying some of the more subdued shades I had often neglected. My go-to look has since incorporated the neutral and opaque mattes of Naked Basics, particularly “Foxy” and “W.O.S.” to cover my full eyelid. Never one to give up the sparkle completely, I love to incorporate “Virgin” towards the inner corner of the eye and “Sin” towards the outer from the original Naked palette to keep things light and fun. The best thing about these shades are that you probably already own them or some variation of them in your usual palettes!
My favorite way to punctuate this simple eyeshadow look is with a bold black liquid eyeliner and mascara. My personal go-to’s being Revlon’s, “ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen” and Benefit’s, “They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara.” The eyes are the focal point of this look and so I keep everything else simple with a basic and natural foundation and blush.
Sometimes the best form of reinvention is a return to the tried and true classics, so enter the new school year with your best face of striking neutrals!
