It’s no secret that Rihanna is absolutely perfect. Yet, the songstress and humanitarian just solidified our faith in her yet again thanks to this Youtube video released by Global Citizen highlighting her trip to Malawi in January. The purpose of the trip was to learn more about education in Malawi, which Rihanna did by spending time with a group of students, teaching them math, reading with them, and leading them in chants.
Rihanna is the founder of the Clara Lionel Foundation, which partnered with Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education to advocate for the improvement of education in the world’s poorest communities. Time reports the purpose of the trip was to help convince world leaders to commit $3.1 billion to funding the Global Partnership for Education.
In the video, Rihanna talks about the large number of students who don’t make it to secondary school in Malawi. “It’s such a pity that they have to drop out, because they are so smart,” she said. “Everybody’s learning together, and learning at the same pace it seems. It’s sad that has to end for some of them, because they could probably do so much if they had the resources to continue and complete.”
The Global Partnership for Education hopes to reach its $3.1 billion goal between 2018 and 2020.
