When youâre a student in Boston, the constant workload of your classes and managing a life in the city can get hard. Sometimes, you need an escape from being an â18-year-old adultâ to enjoy the small and simple things in life, such as rollercoasters, rides and Dippin dots ice-cream. For a quick and easy escape, the Six Flags Theme Park in New England serves as the ideal destination. The amusement park with rollercoasters, cartoons, food and your friends by your side can be the perfect distracting day trip from your busy schedule.
This serves as a guide to the best and most affordable day trip to Six Flags:Â
Â
Best time to visit: The Park is only open during the months of November to April for the best weather conditions possible. In addition to this, the waterpark is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Â
How to get there:
1. It is a 2-hour bus or car ride. The easiest and most convenient way is to go through the Peter Pan bus where tickets are around 20-25$ one-way and are the most affordable options.
2. The second way is to rent a zip car between your friends and split the costs. It has a wage of 10-14$ per hour.
Â
Local Transport: If you do decide to take the bus, you can Uber from the bus stop to the park. It is a 20-minute ride and is the cheapest option when you split it between friends. Moreover, local taxis are hard to find since it is a suburban town.
Â
Important Documents: Make sure to have your tickets printed and carry a college ID just in case of emergencies or verification.
Â
Now that you know the basics, here is a guideline of all the fun things you can do:
Â
An endless supply of thrilling rollercoasters –
Â
1. Thrill Rides
There are about 30 roller coasters that give you goosebumps and turn your world upside down. These are a few of my favorite ones that are a must try for the daring and fearless souls:
Goliath – This âGiant Inverted Boomerangâ will take you on a trip like no other. Unlike most coasters, this one goes in an inverted opposite direction and gives you the thrill of a lifetime.Â
New England Sky-Screamer –Â Weâve all loved the rides where the swings go round and give us a view of the surroundings. However, this ride does so at a height of 400 feet in the air!
Scream – Ever wanted to try Bunjee Jumping but something stopped you? This ride gives you a close experience to Bungee Jumping.
Â
2. Family and Kids Rides
For when you need a break to truly remind yourself of the 5-year-old kid you used to be and step away from the thrilling rides to engage in a Looney Tunes musical, smash your friends in a game of bumper cars or go round in a teacup.
Blizzard River – If you decide to go to Six Flags on a hot summer day like me, this ride is the perfect way to remind you of the seasonal chilly winter in New England and gain a close to river rafting experience.
Stampede Bumper Cars – Because apart from Grand Theft Auto, this is the only place where you can smash and hit your friends in cars!
Tea Cups – A classic for all ages that takes you bag to the golden days.
Â
3. Hurricane Harbor Water Park
From a stroll through the lazy river to a cannonball fire down a waterslide, this water park provides an amazing experience filled with splashes and fun. Get your swimsuits out for this experience!
Â
4. Dining and Shopping
Along with a variety of rides, Six Flags offers a range of food items from burgers at an all-American diner to Tacos in a Mexican joint to Pizzas in an Italian restaurant. After a long day of waiting in lines and enjoying rides, you will need this fuel. Moreover, the various stalls and shops at the park will offer you the best souvenirs to always remember your day at a place filled with energy, excitement, and adventures.
For me, it was a day that teleported me back to my childhood days with some of my best friends from college by my side.
Â
I hope this guide makes your trip to Six Flags as memorable and as exhilarating as mine! Â â
