Meditation serves different purposes for different people. For some, it’s a part of their religious practices, for others, it’s how they relax. For me, It’s how I focus and come to peace.
Meditation is all about blocking out the world around you and focusing on the task at hand: breathing.
Many of us have a hard time staying still and quiet for more than 30 seconds. I know that when I had first started meditating, not only was my mind extremely cluttered (which makes it hard to focus), but it was the longest 5 minutes of my life. But that’s how I knew it was something I needed to keep doing.Â
Meditation helps me to sort things out in my head and I find it effective for my needs when I do it at the beginning of every week but I would do it more often if I made the time. Often times (all the time), I wake up on Sundays and Mondays overwhelmed with everything I have to accomplish that week. I just want to lay in my bed and sleep it all away, but unfortunately that isn’t an option. Meditation gets my mind in the right place to take on the week and everything I have to do. It also helps calm me down when I’m irritated or I feel myself beginning to get distracted.
Sometimes the best thing that you can do for yourself is take time to breathe. I would suggest meditation to anyone, especially those who find their minds constantly cluttered. You’ll be amazed how much forcing yourself not to think about anything clears your head.
