We’re back with another makeup review!
I’m always on the look out for a really good liquid lipstick; I need one with a decent color payoff, texture, weight and a nice scent. It also wouldn’t hurt to find one for a good price either! At the drug store I came across two lipsticks: L.A. Colors matte liquid lip color and the Wet n Wild liquid Catsuit lipstick. (I told you all I was going to try it out!).
L.A. Colors Matte Liquid Lip Color in Illusion and Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit in Give Me Mocha
Now, Give Me Mocha is a tad lighter than Illusion. I do have a different color from the Wet n Wild brand, but it’s way too light and I want to give both brands a fair chance so I tried using similar colors. The best thing of all are the prices. L.A. Colors lipstick was $2 at Family Dollar and Wet n Wild was around $5 at CVS. That is amazing! I love saving money and I`m sure you do too.
First applied then dried down; Give Me Mocha on top and Illusion on the bottom; Give Me Mocha on the left and Illusion on the right.
BUT…there are some pros and cons to these lipsticks.
First off, L.A. Colors has a better scent than Wet n Wild. L.A. Colors has this vanilla scent while Wet n Wild smells rather like paint. (Apparently, so does the Wet n Wild new foundation? Hmm…)
When it comes to staying power believe me when I say that I almost ripped my mouth off trying to take off L.A. Colors’s lipstick. My lips were tingling after I finally took it off. I needed a lot of oil and a makeup wipe. That does not budge at all even when I was eating and drinking. So if you’re going on a date then yes, I RECOMMEND this one. You’ll look perfect while eating! As for Wet n Wild, it’s a much easier formula to take off, however; it passes the drinking test and kiss test…not the food test though.
A huge pro for team Wet n Wild is that this formula is so lightweight and is easily buildable without getting all gross and crumbly. Darker colors are always a bit more on the streakier side, but this one isn’t bad and I’m so glad I don’t look like I have cake crumbs on my lips. Sorry L.A. Colors but you have to take the L on this one because there is this weird oily slick feel to the formula at first and then it feels heavy and drying on top of that IF you do build it up. So be careful.
Lastly, the color payoffs for both lipsticks was pretty okay! For drugstore brands, they have decent pigment. I believe that Wet n Wild had a less patchy application than L.A. Colors though, but hey for two bucks I’m really impressed with L.A. Colors. However, maybe it could be because of how the applicators are shaped? Hmm..

I definitely recommend you guys to try these lipsticks out! They have some nice other shades if you don’t like the dark vampy tones. I wear those shades because I enjoy my inner Morticia Addams to shine through. I personally believe that these can even battle some of those high-end liquid lipsticks! Enjoy them, happy savings and happy shopping!
