Writing is one of my passions and always will be. It is an outlet that I have always turned to when life gets overwhelming. As I sit down to write these words, a rush of relaxation washes over me; like a breath of fresh air, I feel new again. When things get hard to say out loud, I write. I write when I am feeling joyful, and I write when I am feeling down. All of my inner thoughts pour out onto these pages. Every event that happens in my life is captured in detail, and those descriptive details get poured out onto these pages.
I capture these moments with friends and descriptively write about how they impacted me during those moments. During those minutes of reflection, I am free to express myself, no drawbacks. Sometimes, writing can be time-consuming, but in the end, you will always have the power to impact others. Writing takes on multiple forms. Sure we write for school because we have to, but we also write to inspire or make others laugh.
Words have the power to move people and change lives. It is a pretty phenomenal concept that we can express our feelings in a few sentences. Writing is considered an art. The rhythms in poetry or a series of events in a book allow you to get lost in another world for a while. I take my feelings into consideration when making up new characters for a book, each one sharing a quality similar to my own.
Think about all of the speeches that were written out by historical figures before they were presented in front of millions of people. Those speeches took a lot of time and thought in order for them to successfully leave an impact on society and change the way we view things.
I write because I have had incredible English teachers to look up to throughout my life. These teachers have consistently read my work and graded my papers. Sometimes I felt that they graded a little harshly, but I know they did it to shape me into the writer that I am today, and for that, I thank them.
I write because of all of the books that I have read throughout my life. I let their words sink. I found myself often thinking about their words in my head like a broken record, stuck on repeat. J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis, Gayle Forman, and Judy Blume-without these authors, I would have never considered writing in the first place.
I write because my friends and family enjoy reading my work, and to me that is priceless. They complement me on authentic pieces that I have written well, and have even pushed me to improve in some areas. I write letters to my friends because I know it is rare in 2017 to receive a letter from someone in the mail. I love making people feel loved and I knowing that I can express that in my writing.Â
