Trying the New Victoria Beckham for Target Line

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cornell chapter.

Last Sunday, Victoria Beckham launched a new line of clothing for women, girls and toddlers at Target, which is pretty exciting considering items from her clothing line at Nordstrom cost hundreds of dollars. These pieces are much more affordable, ranging from $6-$70. I tried on some of the items, and here’s what I thought.

1. Fuchsia Twill Ruffle Hem Dress – $35

This dress is a super eye-catching pink, and the material it’s made of seems to be high quality. It is pretty baggy though, and would probably be best for someone that’s tall, considering the peplum at the bottom of the dress falls right above the knee. Being 5’1”, this really dwarfed me, but for a tall person, I think it would be perfect. Another issue is the armholes are slightly too low at the bottom, so part of your bra might be visible. This dress is actually similar in style to some of the dresses from Victoria Beckham’s more expensive clothing line, like this one for $825.

2. Mint Green Pleated Lace Short – $28

These shorts were slightly too big for me in women’s sizes, so I tried the girls’ size as well to make sure I liked the fit. In both versions, the shorts are a good quality material and have amazing pockets! They’re the perfect length and quite flattering. Pro tip for anyone small: the girls’ versions of these pieces are cheaper and pretty much identical, so if you can fit into them, you’ll save some money!

3. Orange Twill Tank Top with Asymmetric Scallop Trim – $26

This shirt is bright and can be worn both casually and more formally. It’s made of the same twill material as the bright pink dress, and though it’s fairly baggy, it’s not overwhelming, even on a small frame. I think it would be perfect with skinny jeans for a warm spring day. You can’t beat the price for a shirt this cute and versatile!

4. Blush Collared Dress – $35

My favorite item I tried on was this dress. The bunnies on the collar are adorable, and it’s the perfect light pink color for spring. That being said, one of the major flaws with this dress is the material is pretty sheer. You would definitely have to wear nude underwear or a slip under it. In addition, the material seems like it could get pretty wrinkly. Nonetheless, this dress is really flattering, and if you don’t want to worry about the sheer material, it comes in black as well.

5. Black Satin Embellished Bug Bomber Jacket – $70

Though the most expensive item in the collection, this bomber jacket is worth the price. The jacket is a satiny material, thick enough to keep you warm on a chilly spring morning. Looking at the pictures online, I thought for sure the bug embellishments would appear cheap and probably come off really easily, but this isn’t the case at all. They are so cute, and they look like they’re sewn on very well. This bomber would be the perfect statement piece for spring and fall!

All in all, I’m really impressed with this collection and the quality of the clothes for their low prices. Victoria Beckham’s Target line will be sold through April 30, so if you’re interested, get your hands on these pieces now while you still can!
