Here at Her Campus, we’re all about highlighting aspirational women who have become influential forces in the world, proving that you can do anything you set your mind to. But what about the women who are changing lives and being total #girlbosses while they’re still in college? To honor those amazing women, there’s the 22 Under 22 Most Inspiring College Women. 2017 nominations for these spots are now open, but here’s a look at what past honorees have achieved to give you an idea of who fits this accolade best!
In 2016, the 22 young women selected ranged from poets to aspiring surgeons, and fought for causes like cancer treatment and foreign literacy. On average, the entire group was around 20 years old and founded a total of 19 organizations. Is your mouth wide open in awe yet?
We’re looking for 2017 honorees who demonstrate leadership, excel academically, are doing big things in an area that’s important to them, and who have ambitious goals for their future. The only way the rest of us can achieve our dreams is by knowing that it’s possible for other girls to find success too, so why not nominate yourself or a deserving friend for one of the slots?
“Attitude and patience are key,” said Julia Richardson, a 2016 honoree who aspires to complete a 10K race even with an amputated limb. “Your attitude will truly make or break everything, and it’s incredibly rare for something amazing to happen overnight. It takes hard work, dedication and staying strong through the failures.”
2016 honoree Sara Li also has a go-getter attitude for achieving personal aims. “If I had to wait for permission every time I got an idea, I’d never get anywhere,” she said. “No matter how unrealistic or bold or insane your goal is, go now.”
