I had the pleasure of sitting down with Amrita Joseph on a lazy Wednesday afternoon in the Student Center at Temple University. She was wearing black booties with blue skinny jeans, and a yellow sweatshirt with her Greek letters on it. I approached her while she was sitting at a fundraising table for her sorority Sigma Gamma Rho, drinking her favorite smoothie mixture of mango, strawberry, and peach. She smiled as I approached her and I took that as an indicator that she would be the perfect campus cutie!
Where Are You From? What’s your major?
“Well, I am from Uptown the Germantown section of Philadelphia. I am majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management.”
What inspired your look for today?
“I am wearing paraphernalia, a term for sorority style clothing. It’s Greek related clothing with the letters on it. My colors are royal blue and gold so I am representing my organization!”Â
Where do you like to shop for your clothes?
“I love cute affordable clothes and anything online! My favorite stores are Forever21, Old Navy, and Ross.”
“What’s your go-to piece of paraphernalia?”
“I adore my cardigan because it has “Soror Joseph” on it. It’s super comfy and it’s a piece that we all wear that’s a uniformed piece.”
Where do get your style inspiration to style your paraphernalia?
“I legit just go on Instagram because a lot of sororities tag the stores that they purchase their clothing from. The best that Instagram has ever done is allow people to save things. One outfit that I saved is a gold tulle skirt with a navy blue denim-button down shirt, and black booties. All of the items came from Forever 21.”
Has your style evolved since you first joined Sigma Gamma Rho?
“Personally, my style has changed since I’ve joined in Fall 2016. I try to pick items that are more versatile but no I go for cute and comfy. I actually take the time to pair my items together because I am not just representing me, I am representing my organization at all times!
