Okay, so as we all know Target is just the place to shop. Yet, in Tallahassee there are only two locations and they are both pretty far from campus, being located on Apalachee Parkway and Bradfordville Road. Well, there is great news! There is potentially a third Target opening in Tallahassee and in a perfect distance for college students.
According to Tallahassee Democrat, Angeline Taylor, a spokeswoman for the city’s Growth Management Department said, “According to our managers and a planner, the project was submitted as a pre-submittal, meaning it has not been finalized. It’s my understanding that the elevations shown did not specify that a Target is involved. But the architecture and logos strongly suggest that the main tenant on site is a Target.”
The second-largest discount store retailer in the United States, behind Walmart, may be the main occupant in the Varsity Plaza, which is now home to the nightclub known as Coliseum and the Florida State University Department of Anthropology, which is off of West Tennessee Street near High Road. The plaza is tagged for redevelopment.
The pre-submittal narrative, was submitted on February 21st, 2017 by Clifford Lamb & Associates, consulting engineers, where they have proposed redevelopment of the plaza shopping center, Tires Plus and Aaron’s Rental. In the proposal, all three stores would be removed through phases. In which, would create 65,056 square feet of new non-residential space. It would have one major tenant building, three smaller retail buildings and associated parking areas.Â
