As I emerged from the parking garage on Vine St, I looked up at the Fifth Third building as the fountain overlapped the building. Small chatter was indistinct as I sat down at the tables in front of a huge stage and indulged in Graeter’s Ice Cream, a staple of Cincinnati. As a second year UC student, I never realized how close Fountain Square was to campus, and how much it had to offer.
In the heart of Cincinnati, Fountain Square has many events available to UC students. In the month of September, FS has a pretty interesting schedule, hosting different events like Trivia Night, Salsa on the Square, and Strauss Toy Market every week.
On the 9th and 10th of September, for those of age, FS is hosting the Cincy Beerfest. If you’re busy that weekend, no worries. Restaurants and bars like Rock Bottom Brewery, Mynt Martini, and Palomino are in the Square as well.
Speaking of food, Fountain Square is also home to a Potbelly’s, Chipotle, Ingredients, Via Vite, McCormick & Schmick’s, Boi Na Braza, Morton’s, and even more less than a block away.
Near the winter when it consistently drops below freezing, up pops an ice rink right in Fountain Square! There’s so many interesting events FS hosts throughout the year. And as a UC student, I highly encourage you visit!
