Do you like music? Do you enjoy sitting under the summer sun and making long-lasting memories? If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, you should consider attending Lollapalooza 2017 in Chicago this summer.
Lollapalooza isn’t just another music festival, and this year’s lineup will provide you a unique and worthwhile experience. Although many people don’t want to spend over 100 dollars on a music festival, we’re going to show you how it’s worth it:
Chicago
Picture this: great music, the sun setting, and a panoramic view of the beautiful city skyline.
Taking place in Chicago’s Grant Park, the entire concert venue overlooks the glowing city. The aesthetics of Lolla are pretty phenomenal—not just musically, but visually, too. The opportunities for photo ops are endless, so you can capture your favorite moments (especially by the iconic Lolla sign).
The Food Vendor Lollapalooza could easily be considered a taste of “Taste of Chicago.” Various restaurants from all around the area sell their specialty foods, bringing gourmet meals to complement the music and festivities. From the well-known lobster corndog to a cheesy slice of classic Chicago deep-dish pizza, you can enjoy unique meals each day for reasonable prices. Nothing beats a chocolate sundae and the energy of your favorite musician on stage.
Since Lollapalooza doesn’t target one specific type of music, they bring in artists from all genres. No matter what musical styles you like best, you are sure to find what you’re looking for. The design is fool-proof, designating different stages for every genre. The variety of artists that attend can even serve to change your style a little and expose you to new music. From raving to EDM at Perry’s Stage to waving your lighter in the air to a mellow, alternative band, you are sure to find the vibes you crave.
The Recent Transition to Four Day Prior to last year, Lollapalooza used to be a three-day music festival. For the 25th anniversary, the creators decided to extend the festival to four days. This transition went over so well with the fans that now Lollapalooza is staying a four-day music festival for good! Consider us #blessed.
The General Admission Style Concerts One of the best parts of Lollapalooza is there isn’t assigned seating. A Lolla ticket is a ticket to any stage in sight. If your favorite band in the entire world is attending and you can’t live without seeing them, you can literally camp out all day at their stage and be front row for their performance.
Another added bonus, you still get to watch other bands all day at that stage too. If you prefer to lay low and avoid the crowd, though, you can also sit on the grass or on blankets in the back of the fields and enjoy the concert from there. It’s truly up to you.
Staying in Chicago Although it’s not necessary, a lot of out-of-towners will buy hotel packages with their tickets for the three-night/four-day experience. Not only does this mean quality bonding time with your best friends, but also temporarily living in the heart of Chicago, having hassle-free transportation to the festival and a close place to crash after an exhausting but exhilarating day.
Having friends that live nearby is always convenient too. It’s a good chance to save money and still have a great time! Metra Trains and Ubers/Lyfts make the Lollapalooza experience much easier as well, so if you can’t stay nearby the festival, these options are extremely convenient for easy and cheap transportation.
If any of these ideas sound appealing to you, you should definitely consider buying a ticket this year.
Although tickets sold out directly from the official Lollapalooza website, there are always other sellers such as StubHub.com or the Official Lollapalooza Tickets Facebook page as well.
Have no fear if you missed the official sales— there’s always a way to find tickets. You won’t want to miss out on the Lollapalooza 2017 experience!
