I’ve never been a makeup guru, and I’m definitely not passionate enough about the art to spend major money on makeup, brushes, and skincare products. Personally, I only buy these products from the drugstore or the drugstore section of Target. I know there’s a lot of others out there who have similar views, so to help prevent you from wasting money on the wrong products, here are the best drugstore products.
1. Eos Smooth Stick Lip Balm
If you’re not wanting color to your lips, or just want something to use at night or on no makeup days, this is a great chapstick. After just a couple days of using it, I could feel a difference in how soft my lips were. The lip balm comes in three flavors, and if the other two are anything like the vanilla bean (my go-to) they smell and taste SO good. Another great thing about this product is that it doesn’t get clumpy and white or stick on your lips!
2. Garnier Fructis Full and Plush Volume Hairspray
I definitely don’t use hairspray on a daily basis, but when I do, I want something that will easily hold my curls or waves while also preventing frizz when it’s humid outside. This is a product that does that flawlessly, and smells good at the same time. When I shower at night, I like to sleep in French braids, then take them out in the morning, leaving my hair wavy. Without a good hairspray, they fall flat or get super frizzy. This hairspray is truly a 24-hour hold that leaves my hair looking and smelling wonderful.
3. NYX Dream Catcher Eyeshadow Palette
Like I said, I’ve never been super into makeup so this is the first palette I’ve purchased. Apparently, I picked right, because I absolutely LOVE it. There’s ten colors and I’ve used all but one of them. They range from sparkly and light to dark and matte; I’m obsessed!
4. L’Oreal Infalliable Sculpt Liquid Liner
This liquid eyeliner looks kind of like a pen and it’s a great option for people who are used to a pencil or crayon type of eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner has a reputation for being messy and hard to apply, but the felt tip and ball shape of this one make it easy to apply. It also lasts a long time, smudge-free. After a quick application, it stays on my face all day. I’ve had the product for at least three months and it’s still going strong. 10/10 recommend.
5. Covergirl Trublend Liquid Makeup
After being fed up with L’Oreal’s liquid foundation, I went hunting for a new one. This is the one I picked and I couldn’t be happier. The L-1 shade perfectly matches my skin tone and the pump on the bottle makes it easy to use the right amount. It’s also a great choice for anyone with dry skin.
6. ELF Makeup Mist and Set
I’ve never used setting powder or setting spray, but my friends recommended spray due to my dry skin. I went for the cheapest option at the drug store and don’t regret it. This setting spray keeps my makeup intact all day and adds some glow in all the right places. This is another 10/10 recommend. 7. L’Oreal Pro-Last Lipcolor
This is my favorite lip stain. This product has two steps, which are clearly numbered on the packaging. First you apply the actual lip stain, then there’s a built in clear chapstick to give your lips some shine and moisture. I use number 109 which I definitely recommend especially if you want something subtle but still noticeable.
