Spring Break has officially arrived. At last, it’s time to say goodbye to the snow and jet off to a warm, better yet, tropical place. Get ready for sun-filled days and fun-filled nights…But, for those of us who find ourselves at the next best vacay spot, aka home, I thought I’d share a list of some of the best movies currently streaming on Netflix.
Without further ado, here we go:
Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids
While it might not be your traditional idea of a film, one thing is for sure…it’s entertaining. This documentary honestly makes you feel like you’re actually at this concert (minus a few hundred dollars). Plus, do you really need an excuse to watch Justin Timberlake do what he does best?
Fruitvale Station
Starring Michael B. Jordan (nuff said), Fruitvale Station tells the true story of Oscar Grant, a young, black man that was, tragically, fatally shot one night in Los Angeles. The film shines a light on a major issue that has long been prevalent in our society.
Finding Dory
After waiting 13 years for a much-anticipated sequel to Finding Nemo, we finally got one. Finding Dory takes a look at our favorite forgetful fish’s story about where she came from and how she became the adorable character we know and love.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
This movie pretty much sums up every student’s dream skip day. If only we could all take a joyride in a Ferrari and lead a parade in an epic sing-along of “Twist and Shout”. For those of us who can’t manage to make that happen, we at least have Ferris Bueller to inspire us and show us the right way to take a “day off.”
Love Actually
By now, I’m sure you’re all familiar with this classic (and hopefully you’ve heard about its Red Nose Day mini-sequel). Although most consider it a Christmas movie, I think it’s one of those films you can watch whenever, wherever.
The Princess Bride
Make it a nostalgiac night by throwing on The Princess Bride. We all know the lines, “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die,” and of course, the ever popular “Inconceivable!” I’m sure we’ve all seen it a thousand times, but it’s just one of those films that never gets old.
Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler centers around a young man who is desperate for any job – and is desperate to be successful at that job. I know, sounds like the rest of us, right? Wrong. This movie takes a cynical turn real quick. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking thriller, this one will definitely leave you shook.
Spotlight
Based on the true story of the investigative journalism team who, in 2001, uncovered a scandal within the Roman Catholic church, Spotlight will literally have you on the edge of your seat. It’s full of suspense, emotion, and shows how investigative journalism should really be done.
