1. It’s relatableÂ
You may not be as drastic as Rebecca Bunch but you sure can relate to her and her story. From getting ready on a date to self-loathing hate or pretending your life is composed of musical numbers there is at least one time we were once Rebbeca. If it’s not Rebecca you relate to then there is a character on the show you will I guarantee.
Â
2. There is a variety of humor
From satire, parody, situational, deadpan, character and many more there is humor for everyone on this show. It’s an award nominated and winning comedy show.
Â
3.It is funny but address serious issues of mental health tasteful wayÂ
On that note, the show addresses serious mental health issues but does it in a way where there is no stigma and encourages positive ways for dealing with mental health.
Â
4.It features strong female characters
Even though the show exaggerates on common Rom-Com tropes the female characters presented in the show are strong, flawed, and not for the male gaze. There’s even a song about boobs and desexualizing it.
Â
5.It’s socially aware
Through the storyline and the characters the show is socially aware on issues dealing with mental health, diversity, sexuality and many more.
Â
6.There is feminism throughout the series-
From the songs on the show to Rebecca calling out the patriarchy to the diverse representation on the show there is never an episode without feminism in it. Â
Â
7.Great musical numbers
By far the best part about this series is the musical numbers. Each song is unique in it own way and alludes to certain popular or well-known songs with well written and funny lyrics. Also to top it off they’re catchy. I mean have you listened to the theme song?
Â
8.It’s on Netflix
Both seasons are on Netflix, so what are you waiting for?
