This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New School chapter.

Staying in New York for Spring Break, but still want to do something new? Here are a sixĀ daytrip, and weekend getaway ideas, to help you get on your feet and out of theĀ city for a little bit.Ā

Bear Mountain – NY

Only one hour and 15 minutes away from our favorite city, the Bear Mountain Inn is perfect for a peaceful, rustic getaway in the mountains. And definitely ideal for those who love hiking, biking, and fishing! The inn also has an indoor swimming pool for those who would rather stay in.

Beacon – NY

Tired of the MoMA? Check out Dia:Beacon, a museum with unique modern art from the 1960s to the present. Bonus, it’s only an hour-and-a-ha;f away.Ā

Fire Island – NY

Fire Island is a local favorite, and it’s only one hour and 45 minutes away. Head out into Long Island and spend theĀ day hiking or relaxing on the beach. Make sure to catch the beautiful Fire Island sunsets before you head home.Ā

Tarrytown –Ā NY

Check out the historic Hudson River town of Tarrytown. Home to beautiful historic mansionsĀ (and right next to Sleepy Hollow) andĀ the Headless Horseman, a character from Washington Irvings short story: TheĀ Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The town is also the home of the Rockefeller Estate. Plus, it’s only 45 minutes away!

The Hamptons – NY

Of courseĀ we wouldn’t forget The Hamptons. In just threeĀ hours you can be in one of the beautiful Hampton towns, and the best part is, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to stay. Devote the day to exploring Main Street, doĀ a little shopping, dineĀ in the delicious local cafe’s, and checkĀ out the art scene. It’s also a short drive away from Montauk, if you want to check out the historic lighthouse!

The Berkshires – MA

Also threeĀ hours away, and with a bigger art scene, is the Berkshires. Visit this lovely, laid-back mountainous area in western Massachusetts for an array of outdoor activites.
