After The Vampire Diaries finale on Friday, I was shook. It totally lived up to my expectations—and like the other episodes, provided the usual dose of heartbreak, tragedy and romance.
Although Caroline and Stefan didn’t get their happy ending, Damon and Elena finally got theirs—and a new beginning. But their story in the finale could have been even sweeter.
According to Cosmopolitan, co-creator Kevin Williamson revealed that the finale was originally supposed to show Damon proposing to Elena. Williamson told TV Guide, “We actually had a moment, which we didn’t have time for―everything got cut. I think the first cut came in 18 minutes over,” he said. “And there was a moment in the show where he proposed and she responded after medical school. And the whole point of that moment was just to show that she became a doctor. And so we thought, ‘Oh, we’ll just put her in scrubs and we can cut that piece.'”
But proposal or not, at least Damon and Elena got their happy ending. Which is more than we can say for Stefan.
