Located at 70 Rue Prince Arthur, Négasake is a a cozy restaurant offering up staple Korean dishes. From steaming bowls of ramen to Korean BBQ, Négasake is the perfect place to warm up when Montreal’s temperature drops below zero.
Négasake offers traditional Korean drinks, such as Soju and Makgeolii, as well as draft Sapporo and other beers and cocktails. The food menu also ranges, but I decided to try the beef bibimbap, while my roommate went for her staple tofu ramen. Négasake offers take-out options as well as food delivery on Foodora.com, so my entire house often gets take out ramen when we’re craving something much fancier than microwave ramen. However, Négsake’s hip but casual vibe makes it ideal for eating there.
The beef bibimbap was delicious, topped with seaweed salad, a fried egg, beef, lettuce, shaved carrots, and sprouts. A starter soup of spicy broth also came on the side. The kimchi served on the side was spicy and a perfect addition to the rice and toppings. Although I wish the dish was served in a more traditional hot stone bowl, everything was warm and comforting.
The tofu ramen was also an indulgent dish, with piping hot broth, a hardboiled egg, tofu, and mushrooms. Neither of us could finish either dish, just because they were so filling.
I highly recommend checking out Négasake for whenever you’re cold and in need of a warm and nourishing meal.
