A Guide To A Productive Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD chapter.

Finals are here and spring break is just around the corner. You’re exhausted and can’t wait to take a week off and relax at home or maybe on the beach with some friends. However, as we start to approach Spring Quarter, it’s important that you don’t lose your momentum. The last stretch of the school year is going to be the most difficult. We are all tired with school at this point in the year and I’m here to help you with that. There are a few things you can do to keep your motivation from completely disappearing during spring break.

1. Sleep (But Not Too Much)

Now that you have all this free time it’s important that you catch up on sleep. But don’t let yourself sleep the day away! If you get used to sleeping all day, every day, then it will be that much harder to get back into the swing of things. Set an alarm if you have to. You won’t regret getting out of bed and actually being productive. You’ll feel good, trust me.

2. Make Time For Yourself

Whether you came back home for the week or you went on a road trip with your friends, it’s extremely important that you make time for yourself. Put some headphones in or get lost in a book, or maybe start writing in your diary. Time alone is very crucial to self growth. You’ve spent the past couple months like a busy bee, constantly producing work and socially going crazy. Give yourself a rest. It’s okay to spend some time alone. Recharge and take a couple breaths. Your friends aren’t going anywhere.

3. Make Time For Your Family

If you have the luxury of being around your family this spring break, take advantage of it. Before you know it, you’ll be back at school and your mom won’t be there to make you home cooked meals or give you life advice. Make an effort to spend time with your parents and siblings. Family is forever, and you will regret all the time you don’t spend with them.

4. Keep A Planner

The key to everything is time management. You won’t ever remember anything if you don’t write it down. Didn’t you hear? Planners are trendy. It’s okay to leave some days up to chance but if you have any looming obligations, write them down and deal with them before they become a problem. You can thank me later.

5. Prepare For Classes

Don’t forget, you’re going back to college! Your classes start up again in just a couple weeks and you will need to be prepared because your professors may not be so understanding. Check out your pre-quarter assignments and any textbooks you may need to pre-order. Check out if your required textbooks can be rented on Amazon, instead of waiting the day before class to buy a new copy. Being prepared will help you out so much in the long run, and can save you money too!
