I was always one of those little girls who dreamed of being a ballerina, performing in front of adoring crowds, being able to throw myself into the air effortlessly, but most importantly, getting to wear a giant pink tutu. I constantly begged my mom to let me wear my tutus everywhere as a toddler. As I grew older, although the desire still existed, the ability to do so became slightly less realistic due to the fear of looking as if I was going to a costume party. I thought it was impossible, I thought my tutu wearing days were over, but I was wrong. Yes, for all of you out there like me, there is a way to wear a tutu and fulfill your childhood dreams on a daily basis, whilst still look like a self-respecting adult.
Casual Look
It’s true, you can wear a tutu casually, but there a few things to consider. To pull off a casual look first consider the length of your tutu, usually a shorter or mid length is better for this look. Pair your tutu with a cool pair of sneakers and a t-shirt or even a denim jacket and your good to go! Depending on the color of your tutu you can even add a few pops of color in the sneakers or a denim jacket to dress the look down even further.

Formal Look
For a more formal look length is key, stick with mid length wide tutus that are high waisted or full length tutus with a slight train. Put your hair up in a ballerina bun and wear a simple pair of heels and a embellished blouse. You will look bold and flirty, perfect for a wedding or special occasion.

Edgy Look
Making a tutu edgy is probably my favorite way to wear this trend, first of all try to keep your tutu monochromatic to tone down the girly nature of the piece. Add a leather jacket or sheer shirt with either a killer pair of studded heels or high top sneakers, leave your hair messy and voila. Edge and taffeta all in one. Oh and if you want to go even further add a statement bag and dark lip to give you just that something extra.

Reserved look
Stick with a tutu with a skirt that isn’t as full to keep your look a little bit more professional. Personally, I love the way lace looks with this outfit as it just adds that little bit of sophistication to any outfit so a lace blouse and mid-low heels will allow you to be both proffesional and chic. However, if its a little colder where you are definaely throw on a turtle neck, functional and cute!
