In case you haven’t noticed, it’s been abnormally warm outside for a February in New York. Residents on the East Coast have been experiencing record-breaking temperatures—at points even reaching 70 degrees.Â
Naturally, people brought out their Spring attire, ditching the jackets and boots for tee shirts and open toed shoes.  Blankets were laid out across the recently snow-ridden grass, music was playing all around campus, and I had to dodge more than a few Frisbees. The whole scene could have been out of a movie, fulfilling all expectations people have on what a college campus should look like on a beautiful spring day.Â
Only—it’s February. This fact was certainly not lost on me as I sat watching the sunset over the Hudson River with only a short sleeve shirt and cropped jeans on.Â
These are all the things that went through my head while experiencing this warm weather:
Why am I sweating in only a T-Shirt on a Winter morning?Â
And then I realized I would have to do laundry more frequently if this warm weather keeps up. Mood was immediately suppressed.Â
If it’s like this now, what will summer be like?Â
I need to work out.Â
Shorts!!! I am not prepared for this, I NEED MORE TIME.
Wait…midterms!Â
This warm weather is tricking us all into thinking summer is within our reach.  Midterms are next week!!! I refuse to fall for this, I refuse to get distracted—FOCUS
CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL.Â
In all seriousness, this weather is extremely concerning. Climate change is not a conspiracy theory—it’s real, it’s scary, and there are facts to back it up. While this warm weather feels great, it should be a warning sign to us that serious changes need to be made to protect our planet.Â
