The four-day mini-vacation we Trinity students get in the middle of February certainly feels like a blessing, but for those stuck on campus it can have its faults. Campus is a ghost town, Bistro and Cave aren’t open, and nothing seems to be happening. But fear not, fellow students! HerCampus have a few suggestions to help you get through these next four days if you can’t get out of Hartford.
1. Restaurant Exploration Time
As has been established, it’s totally a Trinity Days issue that BOTH the Cave and Bistro don’t open. Mather for three meals a day just does not cut it. Don’t fret though; it’s easy enough to turn this negative into a positive! Click here to find Spoon University’s Trinity College chapter. There are tons of articles on there written by Trinity students with suggestions on great local eateries. Some of my personal favorites include First and Last Bakery, Salute, and Frank Pepes.
2. Check Out the Sporting Events
Campus isn’t a total ghost town! On Saturday Women’s Squash, Men, and Women’s Ice Hockey will all be competing at home. Women’s squash starts at 1, Women’s Ice Hockey at 4, and Men’s Ice Hockey at 7:30. Roll out of your bed this weekend, and head over to the courts or to the rink to cheer on your fellow Bantams.
3. Actually Get Some Work Done
O.K. let’s not forget that Trinity Days are actually intended for students to get a break to do school work and research projects. I know you have at least something you could be doing right now. Yeah, you. Stop reading this, and start that essay you’ve been putting off.
4.) … Or Crush a Show on Netflix
So maybe you don’t actually have much work or you want to keep avoiding the work you do have—either way, Netflix is the solution. Might seem like a copout suggestion, but try something you’ve never watched before. Explore the bowels of your account. Actually watch that weird indie film that keeps coming up on the “suggested for you list”. Or just watch all of the Friends series again. We’re not judging.
5.) Get to the Gym
If you’re anything like me, Trinity Days is just another marker counting down the days until your next break: Spring Break. For many, spring break doesn’t just mean a longer break from school – it means beaches, swimsuits, and relaxation. Unfortunately, this also means you need to start your preparation for these beaches, swimsuits, and the relaxation. Push yourself at the gym during this break so you can look and feel good on the next.
