Profile of the week: GG Caroniti

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

The profile this week is on one of Hamlin’s favorite RAs – GG Caroniti! She’s the sweetest person you will ever meet. Make sure you say “hi” when you see her on campus!

Name: GG Caroniti

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: I am from Broadview Heights, Ohio, which is about 30 minutes west of John Carroll University!

Major: My major is Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in Math and Science!

What is your dream job?

Great question! My dream job would be to teach science to children in Africa. I consider the country to be so beautiful from its people to its culture. Africa is my dream travel destination and I love teaching kids so that must equal my dream job, right?! Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to fulfill it someday:)

What activities/organizations are you involved in?

First of all, I absolutely love being involved. If I could major in being in clubs and activities, I would! I’m the Vice President of the Sweet Carrollines, which is the all female A Cappella group on campus, I am the Resident Assistant of the second floor in Hamlin Hall, I am an Orientation Leader in the summer to welcome all the freshmen to John Carroll, and I am a volunteer through Smiles with Style!

What’s your favorite part about being a RA?

My favorite part about being a RA would probably be the relationships I’ve developed with the girls on my floor! It’s crazy to think that at the beginning of the year, I barely knew any of my residents and now, a semester later; I absolutely love spending time with them. I can’t help but laugh whenever we hang out and I truly hope that I have made a positive influence on them, just like they have influenced me in a very recognizable way.

What’s your least favorite part about being a RA?

This is a tough one! There are so many wonderful aspects about being a RA and I am extremely proud having the opportunity to be a Resident Assistant. However, my least favorite part about being a RA would probably be having a single room. I am very much a people person and I love being around friends and family all of the time! So having a single room can be kind of lonesome at times! I miss those deep late night roommate talks and having random dance parties in the room, but that only allows me to get to know my residents a little bit better!

What are you currently binge watching on Netflix?

Surprisingly, I actually don’t have a Netflix! I know, what’s wrong with me?! But, whenever I go home for a holiday or a break, my go to show is Impractical Jokers! I think that show is absolutely hilarious and I’ve gotten my family hooked on it too! So although I don’t watch much TV during the school year, I definitely make up for it when I’m home for breaks!

Ryan Reynolds or Ryan Gosling?

Oh geez, how am I supposed to decide that one??? One of my favorite movies is The Proposal and Ryan Reynolds was fantastic playing such a funny and sarcastic character, but Ryan Gosling in The Notebook? I don’t think many people can beat him in that one! So, my choice is Ryan Gosling!

What movie do you predict will win best picture in the up coming Academy Awards?

Well, I haven’t seen La La Land yet (which I really need to see, so if someone wants to go see if with me, let me know!), but I heard it’s amazing! That might have my vote! But The Arrival also looks super good and I love Sci-Fi movies, so maybe that will win! Whatever movie wins best picture in the up coming Academy Awards, I’m sure they deserve it!!

Who would you pick to play you in a movie adaption of your life?

I’ve never even thought of that before! Hmmmm if someone played me in a movie adaptation of my life, I would have to say Vanessa Hudgens? There are not many actresses that have as curly of hair as mine and that’s a big part of me! So having brown and curly hair is a necessity! And I think Vanessa would do a great job replicating my goofy, ambitious, and extroverted personality!

What’s your go to snack?

My go to snack definitely changes almost every few weeks. Right now, my go to snack is Extreme Cheddar Goldfish. Gotta love em! I just can’t help but eat a handful of them every now and then!

What has been your favorite JCU memory thus far?

Ahhhhh that’s such a difficult question! If I had to pick my favorite JCU memory so far, it would probably be spending this past summer at JCU with Orientation Staff. Getting the incoming freshman class excited about college is such a fun job during the summer, especially when you work alongside some of your best friends! And I love dancing, so the dance off is right up my alley! I’m really excited to see what this next summer on Orientation Staff brings!

What do you think is answer to obtaining world peace?

I wish this were something that could be answered in just a few sentences. Although world peace is something that will be difficult to obtain, I do believe that world happiness can be achieved. I think it can be attained simply by positivity. I strongly believe in the power of a positive mind because it has done wonders to many aspects of my life. So hopefully if everyone kept a positive outlook on life, the world can look a little bit more happy:)

What are you most thankful for?

I have recently been doing a lot of reflecting in my life so you’re asking me this question at a perfect time! I am very thankful for the opportunity to study at a university that reflects my values as a young adult. I have been happy enough to find a place that I am proud to call home. Over the past two years here at John Carroll University, I have fallen more in love with what the university stands for, the organizations that represent the school, and the students and faculty who are present on campus everyday. I believe that JCU is truly a one of a kind place full of people with open arms and I am so grateful for my decision in coming here.
