If an opportunity to study abroad ever arises, take advantage. I had the opportunity to go to Costa Rica over the winter for a political science credit. It was an amazing experience and I got to meet some friends along the way. I had to step out of my comfort zone, but it was an adventure I will NEVER forget.

We stayed in Samara for the first week and had the opportunity to stay with a host family. It was incredible to be emerged in their culture and truly see what goes on from day to day. While in Samara we went to Spanish classes, took a surf lesson, kayaked, snorkeled, and more.

My favorite part of Samara was taking a trip to see the baby sea turtles in Guanacaste. We were able to experience baby turtle just a half hour old and babies being released into the ocean.
After the week was done and we were finished with Spanish classes, we drove over to Monteverde Cloud Forest. We took a night hike and saw sloths, fluffy toucans, and a kinkajou, a rare cat. We also took a coffee/chocolate/sugar tour and went zip lining through the rainforest. Zip lining was very nerve wracking, but gave me such an adrenaline rush!
Next, we drove to Liberia and stay at the Buena Vista Lodge. We relaxed, hung out with each other, and watched the sunset from the Sunset Bar. We only spent one night here, then we were back on the bus to go to Carrillo beach for our final day. We went to the beach and relaxed by the pool before packing everything up and heading home.
