We all remember that time when Mariah Carey claimed that she didn’t know Jennifer Lopez. Then, she went on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live! and clarified her comments, saying that the two singers met before, but the exact moment is fuzzy because she’s quite forgetful. Now, Mariah is once again throwing shade at some of the music industry’s most popular singers and spilling the tea on who else she apparently doesn’t know.
Appearing on WWHL! for the third time, Andy seemed to jump at the opportunity to find out which other stars Mariah doesn’t know. The latest victims of Mariah’s shade? Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato.
While playing a game of “Does She Know Her?” Andy asked, “Ariana Grande, do you know her?” Considering that people have been quick to compare Ariana Grande to Mimi (calling her a “mini Mariah”), one would assume that the two singers crossed paths at some point. According to Mariah, this is definitely not the case.
In addition to answering “no” to Andy’s question, Mariah elaborated a bit. “Honestly I’m not familiar, I listen to hip-hop more than I listen to pop music.” Yikes.
Later in the show, Andy orchestrated even more shade—this time directed at Demi Lovato—during a game of “Plead The Fifth.” While playing, Andy brought up the comments Demi made months ago, when she called Mariah’s treatment toward J.Lo “nasty.”
“Demi Lovato, I didn’t know this, she kind of shaded you on social media,” Andy said. “She made assumptions about Ariana Grande, and she said, ‘Mariah’s a legend and she’s so talented but she disses people. It’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer.’ What would you say to Demi?”
This prompted an eye roll from Mariah, before she responded, “I don’t know her either and so I wouldn’t say anything to her. She should come up, introduce herself to me, say, ‘Here’s my opinion, what do you think about it?’ That’s how you handle shit, OK?'”
