The 7 Best Christmas Songs to Add to Your Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mich chapter.

1. Fa La La –  Justin Bieber

Although The Biebs’ Christmas album is full of hits, “Fa La La” is arguably the best song off of the album and doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Featuring Boyz II Men, the song has a real R&B feel to it that is not only extremely catchy, but also pretty romantic. If you’re feeling nostalgic and want to reminisce on simpler days when all you wanted for Christmas was for Justin Bieber to serenade you, this is the song for you.

2. Santa Tell Me – Ariana Grande

You know those Christmas songs that you secretly keep on your playlist and find yourself listening to in the middle of July when it’s 90 degrees out because they’re just too good not to listen to year-round? This is one of them. So add it to your playlist (and keep it on your playlist) because it’s too good to miss.

3. Greatest Time of Year – Aly & AJ

Major throwback, but if any song on this list is sure to get you in the holiday spirit, it’s this one. Listen while you’re studying for finals and you’ll be reminded of all the good things that December brings, instead of just the anxiety of upcoming exam scores. It’s also a really good song to have an impromptu dance party to. Just sayin’.

4. Wrapped in Red – Kelly Clarkson

A song about not being afraid to take a risk this Christmas and tell the person you like how you feel about them. If you’ve been looking for a sign to do just that, look no further. Listening to Kelly belt it out will give you the courage! And if the above doesn’t apply, this song is just super cute.

5. Merry Xmas – Fetty Wap

Who knew Fetty could pull off a Christmas song? It sounds like a tune you’d expect from the rapper, except it has lyrics like “we’re all in love with Christmas, it’s true; all I want for Christmas is you.” So, yeah, it’s pretty amazing. Honestly, give this a listen. You won’t regret it.

6. December – Ariana Grande

Yes, she’s on here twice, but that’s because it didn’t feel right to leave out Ariana’s EP Christmas & Chill and not include at least one song off the pop singer’s second Christmas album. Every single track is amazing, but this one is definitely the best and your playlist won’t be complete without it.

7. All I Want for Christmas is You – Mariah Carey

It wouldn’t be a Christmas music list without this classic. It’s the best of the best for a reason, and it just doesn’t feel like Christmas until you turn this on and sing along with Mariah as she hits – and you attempt to hit – those high notes.
