Bring out some relaxing study music, try to get some beauty rest, and eat healthy because finals week is approaching. Everyone can definitely sense the amped frustration and stress around campus. We here at Her Campus WVWC are here to help you guys out with a few tips from one of the students here at Wesleyan. Caleb gives a brief but helpful insight on how to cope with stress during finals:
HC: This is your second year here at Wesleyan. Do you feel more prepared compared to your freshman year?
Caleb: Yes, I feel more prepared. Because now with my experience, I know what to expect. Each year I think it gets easier in the sense that I know what to expect.
HC: What are some ways you’re keeping your stress levels down?
Caleb: When I’m not in class or out with friends, I look forward to playing video games and taking naps to ease my stress. FIFA is my go-to game and everybody knows that naps are important, especially in college!
HC: When’s the best time to study?
Caleb: For myself, I’d say nighttime. It’s when I’m able to settle down and focus on studying.
HC: Do you have a mantra or some sort of encouragement that you give yourself while studying?
Caleb: I don’t have a mantra, but I do I aim for the highest grade I can possibly get.
HC: Favorite music to play while studying?
Caleb: My top two would have to be rap and African music.
HC: Any advice to those who are stressing over finals?
Caleb: I tell people to struggle now because when you’ve reached the end, it will be amazing. In other words, put as much work into something as you possibly can because the outcome of hard work is success. I always tell myself not to stress over things like this because it’s only temporary stress. I like to stay organized and keep dates in my planner to remember when to study and the dates of my finals. My friends and I also gather and do study groups. Luckily I only have three finals, so I’m not panicking too much!
