While many see Thanksgiving break as a massive tease for winter break, there are many upsides to this short break from school. While the papers, tests, and homework aren’t put on a pause just yet, Thanksgiving break has its advantages to your month long winter’s rest.
Pet Preference
If you live a good distance away from your school, it is likely you haven’t seen your pets since you left for school in August. Your pets, dogs in general, will be so happy to see you they will not leave your side — and they only have around five days with you so that excitement will likely last all break as they remain most loyal to you and will return to the rest of your family only when you return back to school.
Food, food and more food
A traditional and long awaited Thanksgiving meal is an obvious reason Thanksgiving break is counted down to. But the timing of break is critical. Thanksgiving break allows you to indulge in all of your local homes delicacies and enjoy seasonal treats before the pesky new year comes with looming realities of resolutions to “eat healthier” or “lose weight”. So truly revel in this time.
Friendly encounters
The short length of Thanksgiving break gives you the best excuse to perhaps stay away from those acquaintances from high school who demand to hang out. With Thanksgiving break, there is always “not enough time”, “too busy”, or “spending time with family” that can provide you with another night watching TV on the comfort of your home couch that you missed so much.
Black Friday
Black Friday is a crucial element of Thanksgiving Break. Nothing prepares you for a long “reading week” spent hanging out and partying with your friends like some new outfits and accessories — all bought for a bargain (or if your parents are feeling especially giving, not purchased by you).
A short break
While we all love a break from studying, responsibilities, and waking up early, we know that after a week or two of winter break boredom hits and you cannot wait to get back to school. Thanksgiving break allows for little rest from work, but not too long so it keeps you from going crazy from questions about school, jobs, and what you want to do with your future. You can get back to your friends, social life, and nights out ASAP.
