Us college students get caught up in the unlimited amount of dining hall food, multiple cups of caffeinated drinks, and chowing down on Tino’s pizza every Saturday night. Not only do we have unhealthy eating styles, but also deal with stress from our classes or hectic schedules. Here are some tips to stay healthier in college:
1. Drink more water:
Drinking water has SO many benefits. It boosts your energy, nourishes your skin, and also relieves those annoying hangovers. Try bringing a bottle of  water to class instead of coffee or get a grab a glass of water at the dining hall instead of soda.
2. Get some exercise:
Oneonta offers so much for students to get the exercise they need.  If it’s a nice day, put on some sneakers and go for a run around our beautiful campus. If it’s cold or snowing, hit up the indoor track or the treadmill in Alumni Hall. Get together with some friends and go to the gym or take a yoga class to relieve some stress.
3. Enjoy the outdoors:
Oneonta offers such beautiful views, so grab your hiking gear and take a nice hike with some friends. Not only are you putting in that cardio, but you’re also getting a nice view in the end! Not a fan of hiking? Go for a nice walk or bike ride around town.
4. Get enough sleep:
Getting enough sleep is essential for every college student. It makes you more energetic for those early morning classes and restores your body. So try getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Once you moderate your sleeping schedule, you’ll feel a lot better!
5. Switch up your diet a little bit:
I think we all can agree that the dining hall isn’t the healthiest but there are some alternatives. Stick with the spinach wrap instead of the white wrap in Mills, grab a scrumptious salad in Wils, or eat some healthy stir fry in Hulbert. If you ever get those late night cravings, stock up your fridge with fruit, veggies, or yogurt.
