Hobbies: Writing poetry and collecting sneakers 

If you could switch places with anybody for a week, who would it be and why: I would like to switch places with my mother. I choose her because I would like to know first-hand the things she goes through as a single mother. Also, I’m the type of person who likes to know things ahead of time. I would want to know what it is like to be a parent before I actually am one. 

Celebrity Crush: Kind of don’t have one 

If you won the lottery, what would you do? I would pay off my credit card bills, set some money aside for my little sister’s college education, and of course buy nonsense for myself.

What are your aspirations? To be happy with everything I do and to hopefully change someone’s life

When did you become a Resident Assistant? This is my frist year as a RA/First Year Mentor

What is the best experience you’ve had during your time as a RA? I have so many to only pick one. But I can say the best part of every day is coming back from a long day and seeing my residents waiting to speak to me or ask me about my day. It’s absolutely amazing to know that they waited all day to tell me their achievements, sorrows, or just wanted to hang out and watch “Bad Girls Club”

Do you wish you would’ve became a RA sooner? Yes and no. I do believe the position does require some amount of growth to do your absolute best. I also believe you need to be in a certain part of your life, willing to accept the lessons and struggles that come with having a position like this. Things like working with people that may not have the same views as you or to be in charge and be a leader to youth that don’t see that they need guidance. 

What’s your favorite thing about being a RA? The change I’m making in the lives of my residents

Alexandra Whitehead is a Senior at SUNY at Buffalo State. Originally from Virginia, she is majoring in Fashion Textile and Techonology with a concentration in Merchandising. She also has a minor in Theatre. Alexandra is a big advocate for the arts, taking great pleasure in literature, performing, and media arts. She also loves traveling and experiencing new things. In the Fall of 2014, she had the great opportunity to study abroad in London at Regents University. It was an amazing experience that taught her so much about herself and the different cultures around her. When she graduates, Alexandra aspires to be a film/television actress, owner of a eco-friendly fashion boutique, and owner of an animal rescue that saves feral cats and kittens from the streets.
