Molly Fox is a junior fashion merchandising student while pursuing a minor in business administration from Johnstown, Pa! She hopes to be a buyer after she graduates from IUP. Molly is an only child and is very close to her family.
Throughout the years, Molly has been an active member of the Fashion Association and has served as Promotions Officer, Vice President, and now President this year. She was in charge of promotions for her highly successful fashion show “Coastal Clash.” Currently, she is a student worker for the office of IUP’s Vice President of University Advancement, a store management intern, and a sales associate with Maurices in Johnstown.
Molly dedicates much of her time to academics and has been on the Dean’s List every semester since Fall 2014. She has received the Joan Schmitt Fashion Scholarship and the IUP Reunion Year Scholarship.
Molly says her biggest influences are her supervisors at Maurices, Nicole and Jess, along with her Fashion Merchandising professors, Dr. Blood, and Dr. Hwang. Without these four women, Molly would not have had any in-class experience for the fashion industry. She is extremely grateful for them pushing her to do her best, and she feels very prepared to go into the fashion industry upon graduation. She has also been to New York for the Fashion Association’s annual networking trip to the Garment District, Kleinfeld Bridal, and many other industry related locations.
Fashion is something that Molly has gravitated toward since she was little, playing dress-up and putting together outfits for her Barbie dolls helped her to do so. It was not until Molly was in high school until she realized that fashion could be a career choice for her, so she set her heart on fashion merchandising, and has never looked back. Molly chose to attend IUP because it has a fashion merchandising program less than an hour from her hometown of Johnstown, and many of her family members are alumni of IUP.
Molly ‘s advice to IUP students is, “Make the most of your years here. It is important to get involved with activities that build your resume and get you acquainted with other students, but your GPA is important as well. Take both seriously, and try your best at everything you do.”
Make sure to say hi when you see Molly around and maybe get some fashion tips!
