Meet Tess Garber, a freshman from Glastonbury, Connecticut, who’s been spending her first few months at GW finding her way around and seeking out the best spots on campus. I got to know my suitemate a little better this week when I sat down with her and asked her about college and how’s she’s been liking living in Washington, DC.
What’s your major? International affairs
Where do you live? Potomac House, 3rd floor
What’s your favorite class and why? I like Spanish the best because it’s a fifty-minute class, and I feel like it goes by quickly.
Where do you like to eat on campus? I pretty much just go to Roti, which is my favorite.
Tess also really likes Whole Foods and Sweetgreen. You can find her taking study breaks at night to run to Whole Foods and pick up a bag of chips — Mediterranean Terra chips to be exact.
What do you do on the weekends for fun? Well, I usually try to get some homework done during the day, which doesn’t always happen, but I try. At night, I’ll usually go to dinner and hang out with my friends.
Where can we usually find you studying on campus? I study on either the third or sixth floor of Gelman.
You can find Tess studying at Gelman almost every day, whether it’s in between classes or after dinner.
What do you listen to when you study? It depends, but mostly Drake, Kanye West, or Kid Ink.
Then I asked Tess about some of her favorite things.
Coffee or tea? Tea
Morning or night? Afternoon
White chocolate or milk chocolate? Milk chocolate
Jeans or leggings? Leggings. I wear them almost every day, and I actually just got two more pairs.
Winter or summer? Summer
Spring or fall? Fall
Tess, thanks for sitting down to talk with me and answer some questions! It seems like GW’s suiting you well. Be sure to say “hey” to Tess when you see her, most likely at Gelman or Roti.
