5 Gift Ideas for the Mermaid in Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

We all have that one friend, family member, or significant other that believes they were meant to be a mermaid. They make sure to bring it up as often as they can, and love the sounds of the beach, the feel of the water against their skin and the smells that linger in the air. If you’ve thought of someone, and are struggling to think of gift ideas for their birthday or Christmas this year, look no further. I’ve gathered five of what I believe to be the best gifts for that mermaid in your life. You can thank me later.

Mermaid Blankets

If you have any form of social media, you’re sure to have seen these comfortable tails before. I’m not a diehard believer that I’m a mermaid, but I’ve considered purchasing one of these for myself countless times. They come in a variety of colors, so you can get one in her favorite shade. You can find these blankets on more than one site, including Amazon, but my heart will always belong to the hardworking folks on Etsy.

“Kind of Pissed About not Being a Mermaid” Travel Mug, by ThePinkPolkaDotCC on Etsy

This has to be my favorite product on the list. I’m not sure what it is about this mug, but I’m leaning towards the idea that I’m attracted to anything that has glitter on it. And you know who else might be? That special someone in your life that you’ve been thinking about while reading this article. If a girl in your life is always talking about how life would be better as a mermaid, consider getting this for her so that she can share her message with the world, all while looking stylish and drinking her morning coffee (or whatever she prefers).

Mermaid Bath Bombs

I can’t speak for every mermaid, but I would almost guarantee that their favorite time is bathtime. It’s their chance to soak in the water and relax, forgetting their stresses and worries from the day. The only thing that can make a bath better is a bath bomb. If a girl in your life hasn’t been to Lush yet, I’d suggest not taking her; she’ll never want to leave. Bath bombs give the water a calming, delicious aroma, and they tint the water a certain color. This particular bath bomb plays homage to mermaids all around the world, incorporating gorgeous colors and glitter.

“Can’t be a Mermaid Without Water” Water Bottle

For those mermaids in your life who have a taste for going to the gym, or for simply clean, drinkable water, think about investing in this water bottle. It has an easy to follow schedule of when to drink your “mermaid juice,” and ensures that all mermaids will stay hydrated. Forget PINK water bottles, we’ve found something much cooler.

Happy Waist High-Waisted Swimsuit

No mermaid article would be complete without the mention of my girl, Ariel. She is the iconic Disney mermaid that many of us fell in love with when we were kids. Living in Florida, you can never have too many bathing suits, so if you’ve got a mermaid lover in your life, why not get her something she can rock on the beach next summer? This bikini is a modern spin on Little Mermaid, and one of the first steps you can take to feeling like a real mermaid.
