Halloween Costumes: The Top 9

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

With Halloweekend around the corner, almost every college student around the country is preparing their once a year outfit of splendor. It has to be classy, relatable and fun; but most importantly, it has to be UNIQUE. With Halloween creativity developing more and more throughout the years and people going out of their way to stand out, “unique” costumes have been harder to find. Personally, I’ve had to browse hundreds of websites to finally zero in on that one exceptional outfit. In the hunt, I took notes of other costumes I found to be pretty creative, and that may help others be successful in this spooky holiday too! The biggest plus? They can all be put together with everyday items you already have at home.

Top 3 Single Looks

1.   Mary Poppins:

With all these new movies coming out and everyone trying to be the next Dory, why not just go old school with a long skirt and an umbrella?

2.   The Pineapple:

Although this one is in the Singles section, it doesn’t necessarily have to be if you and your friends decide to become a Fruit Mix!

3.   Cat in the Hat:

With Thing 1 and Thing 2 coming out pretty often during Halloween, its time to bring out the boss and show them who´s in charge.

Top 3 Duo Looks

1.   The Curious George Gang:

The live personification of our childhood. However, keep in mind that its best if the person dressed as George is smaller… so he can be carried around.

2.   Copy & Paste:

Our two favorite keyboard combos set free, plus, this costume really doesn’t require much confection time at all!

3.   The Two-Person Oreo:

There´s never been a better method for couple bonding than being literally the two halves that make a whole.

Top 3 Group Looks

1.   Solo Cups:

The HUGE plus for this one is that there is no limit to how many can join!

2.   Different Types of Sauces:

I would definitely go for the standard Ketchup, Mayo and Mustard, but hey, different people have different tastes.

3.   The Scooby Doo Team:

Last but not least the spookiest team of them all! For some reason, it has been forgotten but it is your opportunity to put them back on the show!

Here you go friends, a handpicked list of options for your Halloween outfit SPECIFICALLY designed for us college students. Easy to make, spontaneous and UNIQUE. Could there be better choices? I don’t think so.
