My first time voting was in 2012, I was proud to be voting Obama. Fast forward four years, and to my surprise, I fell in love with politics. I started reading into the many individuals running for president, I learned their backgrounds and how they lived their lives through politics. Growing up in a split political party family, I learned to acknowledge each side and dice through each view differently. This leads to the current debate, and why it should make you sad and worrisome.

Words impact people, the election is showing millennial women, that it’s okay to be cat called and its okay to treat humans like dirt. Words impact people and children, and the people around you. What makes Hillary better than Trump? What makes Trump better than Hillary? Here are two people, who show women, men and children that the way to be successful is to degrade and lower their standards for power. Power to destroy and tear down other humans, because their view is considered “better”, why secrets are welcomed with smirks. Smirks lead to insults and more lies, lies that lead into the past. The past is a crazy time of worries and George Santayana once said “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”. The quote speaks, no one knows this country’s future, and it leaves us with the ultimate question. Do we have a chance? Do we have a chance to acknowledge the fears, the lies and mistakes people make. Words impact people, it impacts how women, men and children represent their selves in schools, jobs and their lives. This election makes me sad, when in fact it should make me feel confident as a women and a United States citizen. I could be livening in a time where a women could be in control of the free world. I should be overjoyed, but I am not. I could be living in a time where a wall divides races and families. I am worried and you should be too.
This election makes me sad, not only is it my future but it’s yours and the future of this county. So I am asking YOU, to please vote carefully, please read up on policies and each individual running. Make sure you are aware as a human being, your vote counts and your voice will be heard. This world needs more people to be aware of policies, politicians and the different roles you can take in this election.
