Name?
Jordan Greene
Where are you from?Â
Raleigh, NCÂ
What’s your classification and major?
I am a senior accounting student.
Who inspires you?Â
My mother is my lifetime inspiration! As a child who has always been under the care of my mother, I have literally witnessed all the great characteristics that my mother possesses. She is the true definition of hard work and true commitment! My mom also has a huge heart, which sparked my passion for constantly giving back and realizing what’s truly important in life. Ultimately, she is the embodiment of resilience, and as I start to shape my own journey, I am incredibly confident in knowing she is and will always be a part of me.
What are your aspirations?
Upon receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in 2017, I plan to pursue a graduate degree in Accounting or Business Administration. After my educational goals are achieved, I would like to begin my career at a Big Four accounting firm or private banking industry. After getting plenty experience, I plan to eventually be a CFO or some type of executive officer for a fortune 500 company. Throughout these endeavors, I also would like to create my very own community mentorship organization that will empower young men.Â
What influenced you to enroll at A&T?Â
Actually, A&T was not my first college choice. Everyone from my high school was admitted to A&T, which made me not want to go. I personally felt the need to set my own path and get away from my peers that I have been with for an entire four years. However, April came and my mom asked me a simple question, “so Jordan have you decided where you want to go?” I responded with hesitation, which made me realize that I had no clue. After receiving three denial letters, I made it a mission to tour A&T. Once I arrived, I was placed with a very small tour group. The tour guide, who was one of the admission counselors at the time, asked the group, “has everyone been accepted to A&T?”
I replied, “no, however, I have submitted my application.” He quickly responded by asking me to come to his office afterwards. While taking the tour I absolutely fell in love with the environment, everybody was so friendly, the staff and professors seemed to care, and most importantly, it reminded me of home. Once I was finished with the tour I headed directly to the counselor’s office. After being there for a little while and him asking multiple of questions, he finally made one more statement which stated, “congratulations you have now been accepted to North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University.” From that day forward, I felt welcome and knew that this was the school I was supposed to enroll in. North Carolina A&T gave me a shot when nobody else did, therefore, I will forever be grateful for my beloved institution. AGGIE PRIDE!!
What does “All or Nothing” mean to you?Â
All or Nothing is not just a platform or movement; it is a STATE OF MIND. The phrase came to me after someone insisted that I run for senior class president because they personally felt I wasn’t qualified to be Student Body President. Well, I thought otherwise and knew I wasn’t going to let that diminish my dreams. I made it my mantra and wanted every other student to live by it too. By the end of my tenure, I desire to have inspired students to accomplish all of their goals; by simply giving it they’re all. Regardless of what others say, nobody can hinder you from accomplishing your goals when you are that determined. Furthermore, I make it a daily mission to encourage all students to take on the “All Or Nothing” mentality so that NC A&T will not only be the number #1 public HBCU in the nation but the #1 institution, period, in the world…
How has your position and title help you grow as a person?
I would say that this position has helped me grow tremendously. From the constant meetings to the various appearances, and the entirely long nights, it has definitely challenged me for the better. Being the SGA President, I am constantly being called to speak which strengthens my public speaking and effective communication skills. Also, this position has taught me how to work with different personalities and delegate when necessary. In all, it has shaped me into the man I am today and I can only imagine how my growth would be measured by the end of my term.
Miss North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Jasmine Lineé Boles, represented North Carolina A&T exceptionally in the 2016 Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame pageant. The focus for the Competition of Black College Queens is to provide an opportunity for young women attending our nations Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to better prepare for the future by gaining self-awareness, self-confidence, individual pride, pride for their institution and a greater social awareness overall. Our beloved queen, Jasmine Boles, did precisely that by not only ranking TOP 10 out of the numerous HBCUs represented in the pageant, but was honored to receive the Spirit of Entrepreneur Award. Boles’ continuous dedication and hard-work fueled the result of her success and we are beyond proud of her accomplishments and will forever be grateful to have a woman such as herself represent the rich legacy of our institution.
