Fun Things to do in Charlottesville (and beyond) over Fall Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

Trying to figure out what to do with all of your free time over Fall Break? Here are some great activities fill your 4-day weekend.

Carter Mountain Orchard:

Ring in autumn right by going apple and pumpkin picking at Carter’s Mountain. Make sure you also stop by the country store to grab some of the orchard’s delicious hot cider donuts and a jar of top-selling apple butter.

Cville Escape Room:

Located between the movie theatre and ice rink on the Downtown Mall, Cville Escape Room is the first of its kind to hit Charlottesville. Each group is enclosed in a room and has 60 minutes to unlock the door by solving puzzles, quizzes and brainteasers. But don’t worry! Not all rooms are meant to be scary, and you can ask for clues when you’re stuck.

Liberty Mills Corn Maze:

The Liberty Mills Corn Maze is the largest corn maze in the state of Virginia, and it is only 30 minutes outside of Charlottesville! It offers 4 different trails with varying levels of difficulty, including both a trivia and scavenger hunt route.

Farmers Market:

The Charlottesville City Farmers Market is open every Saturday, 7am to 12pm, from April through December at the Downtown Mall. This market offers fresh produce, herbs, plants, grass fed meats, crafts, and baked goods from over 100 local vendors.

Monticello:

What better way is there to celebrate going to UVA than to visit our founder’s home? Explore the over 2,500 acres of TJ’s plantation, which include his beautiful 33-room house and historic gardens.

(For those over 21) Bold Rock Cidery:

Nothing says fall better than a hard cider. Nellysford Cider Barn is the headquarters for Bold Rock Cider, and offers daily tastings and grounds tours.

New Yorker by birth, Wahoo at heart.
