How To Organize Your Planner So It’s Perfect

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Staying organized is the only way for us busy Collegiettes to survive and keep track of our lives, and having a planner and making sure that it’s organized is key to getting through your busy days, weeks and months!

So, we’ve got the tips you need to get that planner nice and organized with all of your activities and schoolwork!

1. Write in pencil

The worst thing you could do is write down all of your meetings and events just to have them cancelled or changed. So, to avoid the hassle of crossing out changes, write everything in pencil!

2. Color code

One of the best (and prettiest!) ways to keep your planner organized is to color code. Come up with a system and a color for each different organization or class that you have. I personally use highlighters but if you’d rather use pens that would work as well.

3. Keep it up to date

The most important thing to do when organizing your planner is to actually keep it up to date. Make sure that you are constantly adding your events and keeping track of your assignments, otherwise it’s completely useless.

4. Use sticky notes

Once you actually put all of your activities and classes and events in your planner, it fills up. That makes it really difficult to add any kinds of extra information–which is where sticky notes come in handy! You can make extra notes and reminders and just stick them in your planner.

5. Make lists

Lists are your best friend. Trying to keep up with everything can seem impossible when you have so much in your planner. Use the monthly calendars in your planner to keep track of your events, use the daily and weekly part to keep track of your schoolwork, then make lists for your extra-curricular activities. It also helps to make a separate list for each thing. For example, I have a list for my sorority, for Her Campus, for the newspaper that I work on and I have one for personal stuff.

With these tips you’ll have the most organized planner you could imagine!

Happy organizing, Collegiettes!
