I don’t know about you but I’m feeling…
…like those three months of summer really flew.
Whether the summer is spent working, beaching, or interning, it provides an opportunity to get out of the school mode that requires constant school work, studying, and for most of us, spending money and socializing. At this point, the routine of the new semester is starting to settle in, the familiar stressors of school are back. Here are a few habits that will help start off the semester strong.
1. Keep a planner
Whether this planner is on your phone or found at the bookstore, it never helps to write things down. Even the most organized, responsible person has had one of those “oh my gosh, I forgot to do…” moments that most of us have frequently. Actually use the syllabus and write down due dates and test dates, it’s crazy how reminders are useful.
2. Go to the library.
Even if you think you don’t have homework, going to the library a couple times a week means you’ll be productive in some way shape or form- whether this means studying for an exam or scrolling through LinkedIn, you’ll probably make more use of your time sitting in Fogler than you would watching Netflix.
3. Don’t spend all your money.
You know those last few weeks of the semester when everyone has run out of money but everyone wants to go out and spend money? Those weeks will come sooner if all the summer earning’s are gone in the first few weeks. Instead of ordering OHOP every night, make dinner with your roommates at home, or utilize those bear bucks!
4. Hang out with your friends!
I’m sure no one needs convincing to make this a habit, but seriously- a little R&R with your friends after a long day of work or studying does wonders for your mental state throughout the semester.
5. Exercise.
Go for a walk, play racquetball, have a dance party- staying active is pretty important and self explanatory. If you lack the motivation, find a work out buddy.
6. Drink water.
Seriously. It fixes everything.
