What were you involved with on campus?
As an undergrad I was a Peer Mentor, Ambassador, Greek Life (ADPi), Palmetto State Teachers Association.
How did being involved on campus help you later on in the “real world”?
Being involved with organizations on campus without a doubt definitely helped me in the real world, however being involved with Greek Life and being a Peer Mentor probably helped me the most. Being in Greek Life helped me with the whole interview process of getting a job–going to job interviews felt exactly like going through sorority recruitment. And, being involved with both Greek Life and being a Peer Mentor helped me with my time management skills as well as learning to work with others.
Where do you currently work?
I currently work for Rock Hill School District at Dutchman Creek Middle School!
What do you miss most about Winthrop?
What I miss most about Winthrop is just seeing my friends everyday and not having as many adult responsibilities.
What was your best memory at Winthrop?
My best memory made at Winthrop can’t be singled down to just one! I loved going Greek, I loved being a Peer Mentor, and I loved meeting my best friends and my boyfriend. I honestly loved every minute of being at Winthrop!
What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?
I love being a teacher because it is my passion; I love it because everyday I have the opportunity to go to school and influence the lives of my students. I love that I have the opportunity to make a difference and inspire someone to reach for their dreams.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I mostly enjoy hanging out with my weenie dog, Emma!
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is definitely 50 First Dates–it gets me every time.
Will you be visiting Winthrop anytime soon?
I will definitely be visiting Winthrop soon–I miss it so much! I will be there to visit some friends and I will definitely be back for homecoming!
