Non-Stopping Girl: Meet Fernanda Silva

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

She’s, probably, one of the kindest and most charismathic people inside Casper Libero. Fernanda smiles a lot and has energy for countless activities – and she does so many things that is better listing it on topics.

Here we go: she’s joiins the Atletica Jesse Owens, the organization that provides supplies for sports inside Casper. She’s Her Campus’ Feature and Blog editor. She’s part of Edição Extra Team, a Casperian TV show. She was in Edição Extra even before being part of the team – as presenter and as reporter. She has been in Vem Comigo in 2015 and 2016 – a show that takes young journalists inside the achives of one prestigious Brazilian journalist, Goulart de Andrade. She has written for Esquinas, the laboratorial magazine inside Casper.

Name: Fernanda Silva

Year: Sophomore

I imagine how crazy your life is, considering that you’re part of Edição Extra’s team (there’s a profile about them here in Her Campus!). How do you deal with all these stuff to do? Were you used to this? Yeah, there’s been some crazy days, but I can tell you that is gratifying. As the new face over here, I have learned lot of things on my own, but that doesn’t mean that I’m alone. Everytime I need help, I run downstairs and ask stuff to Clact Zoom’s monitors – that is the Radio, TV and Internet experimental lab inside Cásper. All the process behind every monthly Edição Extra’s edition is complex, with a lot of equipments, transportation, running with the edition and final details. However, having a great feedback after having the TV show is broadcasted, from my family, friends and co-workers makes it all great in the end.

Zodiac Sign – and do you belive in it? I’m in the middle. Somewhere between Pisces and Aries. I actually can see myself fitting in both of them.

Which season is your favourite? I absolutely love Summer, beach, vacation and Christmas, and it all comes together here in the South. But I have an ideology to like them all, so I don’t feel bad in any season.

Do you have an unique musical taste or is it more ecletic? I listen to everything, and it goes from MPB (popular Brazilian music), alternative rock, folk… I believe that life comes with a soundtrack, so I have a song for every moment.

And now, a break on the questions for a moment of ~merchandinsing~

Fernanda is teaching English, everybody! Until this interview was posted, she already had 240 likes on her Facebook’s post. Like was told, she does a lot. of. things. She can’t stop – warn Miley Cyrus about it.

Tell me about this second language, Fernanda. If I’m right, you’ve also studied abroad, right? What is was like? I’ve studied six years of English in an idiom’s school here in Brazil. Then, I spent six months in Shawnee, Kansas, ateending high school down there. It was far beyond learning English and studying abroad, I met incredible people, in particular my American family. I have diabetes since I was 14 years-old, and that was a concerning that  my parents and I had. My host brother had diabetes as well, so it definitely changed my life for better. I’m lucky I found them – or they found me. The Lebar family was really amazing! I visited 10 states of the US with them. I was Senior at Mill Valey High School, and I was a member of the Journalism Broadcast team – it was like Edição Extra, but weekly and with a fixed group. Also, I’ve made a short video – “Welcome to Brazil” – to talk about home, of course. I’m glad I had the support of parents and sister back home, it all makes a huge difference.

Last, but not least: tell us about JUCA! How did it go? It was my first JUCA – which is a sport competition among 8 different communication colleges -, as student and as member of Atletica’s, and it was surprising! I was worried about getting things right, and there are so many responsabilities – I was responsible for the buses and the accommodation. But I met so many people, and besides work, I also went to the three parties and to some games!

That’s because girls just wanna have fun, obviously…

And then get back to work, as she does.

Here, Fernanda as presenter at Edição Extra.
