We all know how difficult it can be to just take a step back and relax sometimes. But during midterms and final exam season that pressure becomes far greater. Suddenly you have 3 final projects, 4 online quizzes, and 4 final exams looming on the horizon on top of work and somehow having a social life before everyone leaves for the summer. Sometimes we all just need to take a moment or two to get out of our own head and the relaxation resources on campus can help you do so to help you do better on all the tasks on your to-do list.

1. Sign up for a Fit Pass and take a class or two.
A few options available include sunrise yoga, sunset yoga, and core/restore yoga. These classes are available at many different times during the day as of course every student exercises on a different schedule so choose whichever options you would like. There are also other exercise classes including cycling, pilates, and dance that you may find relaxing as well.

2. Get your PAC class credit taken care of by taking PAC 201: Relaxation.
This class is described as, an “introduction to relaxation techniques, posture awareness, gentle stretching, source of your energy, and creative imagery to relieve stress”. The good news? You can keep taking this class term after term if you want because it is repeatable for a maximum of 11 credits.

3. Check out the meditation CDs available at Counseling and Psychological Services.
Counseling and Psychological Services here on campus (located in Snell Hall) has many relaxation services available. One of those resources are the meditation CDs that they have available. Included are CDs about self-help instruction, guided meditation, mindfulness of breathing, the Fusion of Energy of Body, Mind and Breath in Asana, anda CD titled Soul Flight: The Journey to the Wild Divine.

4. Make an appointment at the Mind Spa available at CAPS.
The Mind Spa at Counseling and Psychological Services is described as, “a unique sanctuary for everyone in the OSU community where you can soothe your mind, body, and spirit. Come explore an experience like no other on campus. Relax all by yourself in this quiet single-user space, unkink that stubborn muscle in the full body massage chair, center yourself in the meditation corner, use our guided relaxation software to find calmness, or sit by the therapy light on a rainy day.” There is no paperwork or client registration required and this service is available to all OSU students, faculty, and staff at no charge. You are able to book this relaxing space for up to an hour to kick back and relax. The mind spa is available 8am to 4:30pm by appointment and all you have to book an appoint is call 541-737-2131 or stop by CAPS to reserve your time to come unwind!

5. Utilize the health coaching program on campus in order to feel healthier.
Use the services available to you through the OSU health fee that you pay including the health coaching program. Health coaching is described by Student Health Services as, “informal, confidential meetings with a health educator that are designed to help students improve their overall health. Discussions focus on areas of desired improvement and goals associated with these areas. Health coaches help participants to develop an individualized health improvement plan in order to meet these goals.” You can talk about everything related to health including stress/time management, healthy eating, physical activity, sleep issues, financial management, relationship issues, sexual health and any other general health topics. 6. Get a nutritional consultation to feel better inside and out.
Student Health Services offers unlimited one-on-one nutrition counseling to students at no charge, provided by registered dietitians. Their services focus on nutrition and physical activity assessment, and self-guided goal setting. They can help you with general nutrition questions, healthy eating on campus, improving current habit, food planning, weight management, vegetarian/vegan nutrition, cooking skills, sports and fitness nutrition and so much more! All you have to do is make an appointment by calling 541-737-9355. You can also schedule this service for your on-campus organization through a presentation.

7. Take a PAC yoga class such as PAC 294 or PAC 295.
If you’re looking to make a change next term and work exercise into your daily routine try out a PAC class like the yoga classes available on campus and schedule them during part of your day when you want to relax and cool off.
