Tow Truck Driver Refuses to Help Disabled Woman Because She’s a Bernie Sanders Supporter

When Cassandra McWade, a disabled woman, got into a car accident on Monday in North Carolina, she needed a tow truck.

But tow truck driver Kenneth Shupe left McWade, who according to The Guardian suffers from “psoratic arhritis, impaired mobility, early stage Crohn’s disease, severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome,” stranded on the interstate. The reason? She had Bernie Sanders stickers on her car, something that Shupe couldn’t deal with. Shupe refused to tow her car, claiming that she was a “socialist” for supporting Sanders.

“I’m a conservative Christian, I’ve just drawn a line in the sand,” Shupe said, according to the Huffington Post. “I’m not going to associate or conduct business with them.” Shupe also claimed to Fox Carolina that in past dealings with “socialist minded” people, he hasn’t gotten paid. “Every time I deal with these people I get ‘Berned’ with an ‘e’ not a ‘u’,” he said.

McWade’s mother reassured friends and family that Cassandra was fine after the accident via Facebook, but expressed her extreme frustration for Shupe’s towing company.

“Spread this bigot’s story far & wide,” posted the mother. “Btw, I’m guessing he’s a Trump supporter.” (He is—Shupe told the Huffington Post he will support Trump “110 percent.”)

It’s safe to say that Shupe is not “feeling the Bern,” but we’re glad that Cassandra is safe and sound.
